In Amarillo, TX by lunch (not by morning) and had to check out the Big Texan tourist trap. No 72oz beef for me, but I wonder if Adam from Man v. Food has tried this one yet?
What would you pair with such a load of protein? Probably something you wouldn’t mind losing a little later if you catch my drift. p.s. There are dudes walking around in real cowboy hats. Yeehaw! On to NM.

He has. And he handled it easily.

Look what I’m missing!
I feel like you’re making pretty good time here. Safe travels and good work avoiding the overly large steak.
One problem with the 72 oz. steak is that it’s not really a steak–it tends to be something like chuck roast or rump roast, and not only does that make the meat tougher but you’ve got a lot of additional gristle to dig through.
Jason, you wuss… thanks, Steve for the link… didn’t have time to research while on the road… that guy totally amazes me sometimes.

Amanda, I am making some pretty good time these first two days but things will slow down tomorrow as I head through Utah and some windy, scenic routes.

Benito… that’s interesting, because I thought that meat looked funny on the video Steve linked up. Even thought, Gristle was my fraternity neophyte name, it’s no good in a steak fo sho
I’d recommend a nice big juicy Red Mountain Syrah. Since I normally drink about two-three glasses with a 12 ounce steak, eighteen glasses would match up to the Big Texan.
Yeah, that wouldn’t be pretty later on on the recycle.
Nice recommendation, Chris!
