Guess the Grape

jackThe Summer is on its way out and now that vacations are done and kids are back in school, we should get back into the swing of things as far as club tastings go.  This was an unplanned event, but we had a very nice turnout and brought in some of our other friends not “officially” part of the club circuit, but they are now!  The topic was bring your favorite with at least 75% of a particular grape variety and we would all try to guess that variety.  Congrats to those of you (there were several) who guessed 4 and 5 correctly!  And it sounded to me like everyone enjoyed this idea and format, so we’ll see if we can do this more often to sharpen our sensory evaluations!

Here are the top two wines from the event… you can see the entire list here at our Pelly Wine club pages.

C – 2005 Artesa Reserve Tempranillo Alexander Valley — WOTN!!!

F – 2007 El arte de vivir Tempranillo — 2nd place! -biggest and chewyest mouthfeel and spice
